Whether you are an aspiring Google IT Professional or a 3rd grader with a passion in STEM, Code2Connect makes it simple and easy to teach within our organization. Please keep in mind that Code2Connect is a nonprofit incorporation, and does not charge students fees. This experience is purely voluntary. You must have basic proficiency in computer programming in order to apply. Our offered courses are located on the application form. As of now, all our lessons are conducted either one-on-one or with a group to maximize learning efficiency. Group lessons will be with 5-30 students. If you are the Lead Instructor for group lessons, you are eligible for higher tier levels (scroll down for more information). When you apply as a mentor, please select which type of lesson you would be more comfortable teaching. If you are selected as a mentor for a group lesson with more than 15 students, you will be responsible for creating an account for a portal. But don't worry! Our team will guide you through it!
If you are interested in clocking in volunteer service hours through our organization, you must complete the form below after each lesson. This will allow us to document and confirm your total volunteer hours! If you require a certification of your total volunteer hours, email our team, and we'll respond with a personalized certificate an email!
With Code2Connect, mentors can identify gaps in their students' understanding, tailor instruction, and meet the needs of every student. Our mentors are experienced in the computer language they will be instructing upon. Mentors have the choice to choose between tutoring one-on-one lessons or group sessions. Code2Connect offers all our Mentors with an opportunity to record their service hours to count towards completion and induction into the National Honor Society. Absolutely! Being a mentor in our organization accounts for volunteer service. If you need service hour verification, just send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org, and we will send back a personalized letter highlighting your achievements. Depending on your student's pace, your service hours will be the average number of hours you taught per week, multiplied by the total number of weeks you instructed for.
Lessons can be anywhere from 45 minutes to 2 hours a day.
To get your name and picture on the "Meet the Mentors" section, you must be at minimum a Bronze Tier. Look at the requirements for the tiers above.
There is no age limit to apply as a mentor. The only qualification is that you must have a basic, foundational proficiency in the language you will be instructing on.
Head Mentors are mentors who are accepted as a Platinum Tiers. There will be an application for you to fill out once you approach this standpoint. There will be one Head Mentor per computer language we offer. Head Mentors are vital a part of our executive board.
Yes. If you shirk on your responsibilities, lie on your application, or collect fees from students, you will immediately be removed as a mentor. By applying to be a mentor, you agree to abide by our mission statement. Code2Connect has a zero-tolerance policy toward false or inaccurate information and failure to comply with our rules.
